This June, Mid-State Health Center recognizes Men’s Health Month with a focus on this year’s national theme: “Partners in Care: Advancing Men’s Health Through Connection, Education, & Advocacy Across the Lifespan — for Better Lifespans.” The campaign highlights the importance of strong relationships between patients, providers, families, and communities in improving health outcomes for men and boys.
Research continues to show that men are less likely than women to seek preventive care, establish a primary care provider (PCP), or stay up to date with recommended screenings. These gaps can lead to delayed diagnoses and higher rates of serious health conditions. Building trusted connections with healthcare providers, and encouraging open conversations about health, can play a critical role in changing that pattern.
At Mid-State Health Center, care is built on partnership. By fostering strong relationships and providing education and support at every stage of life, the organization aims to empower men to take a more active role in their health and well-being.
Mid-State is encouraging men to focus on three key areas this Men’s Health Month:
- Preventive Care & Connection: Establishing a relationship with a PCP helps ensure men stay current on routine checkups, vaccinations, and screenings, while also creating a trusted space to discuss health concerns.
- Chronic Disease Prevention: Conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure continue to impact men at higher rates. Regular monitoring, healthy lifestyle choices, and early intervention can significantly reduce risk.
- Mental Health & Support: Mental health is an essential part of overall wellness. Encouraging open dialogue and seeking support can help address issues like stress, anxiety, and depression, which are often underreported among men.
“Men’s Health Month is an important reminder that better health outcomes start with connection between patients, providers, and their support systems,” said Dr. Wesley Phillips, Family Medicine Provider at Mid-State Health Center. “When men feel supported and informed, they are more likely to seek care, stay engaged, and make choices that lead to longer, healthier lives.”
Mid-State Health Center remains committed to providing accessible, comprehensive care that supports men and their families across the lifespan. By combining education, advocacy, and strong patient-provider relationships, the organization continues to reduce barriers and improve health outcomes throughout the community.
This June, Mid-State Health encourages men to take a proactive step, whether that means scheduling a preventive visit, having a conversation with a provider, or supporting a loved one in their health journey.
