As we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Mid-State Health is taking a stand against breast cancer. With an emphasis on early detection, they are shedding light on the importance of routine health checkups and screenings, with FREE cancer screenings offered to eligible patients.
This initiative is made possible through a partnership with NH Health and Human Services, NH Healthy Lives Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, which seeks to make screening accessible to all individuals who need it. The program aims to reduce mortality rates through the early detections of cancer among NH residents. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the US and in NH, accounting for 32% of newly diagnosed cancers. Regular screenings and follow-up care can help prevent, or more effectively combat, breast and cervical cancers while in its early stages and easier to treat.
“If we can contribute to saving even one life by offering these screenings, our efforts will be worthwhile,” states Robert MacLeod, CEO of Mid-State Health Center. “Breast cancer is a disease that affects so many people, and early detection is key. We want to be a part of the solution and ensure nobody has to forego these screenings due to financial constraints.”
The BCCP provides FREE breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to individuals aged 21-64, who are uninsured or have insurance that does not cover the cost for screening tests, or have a limited income. These individuals are encouraged to call (603) 536-4000 and schedule an appointment with Mid-State Health.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month serves as an annual reminder of the importance of early detection and education in the battle against breast cancer, a disease that affects millions of lives around the world. Early detection through regular screenings is one of the best ways to stay proactive and can lead to improved outcomes, ultimately saving lives.
To find out if you qualify for these FREE screenings, call Mid-State Health Center at (603) 536-4000, where their staff are more than happy to assist you in determining your eligibility.
