Mid-State Health Center welcomes Dr. Cynthia Waltman to its team of top-notch providers. Dr. Waltman is a board-certified Psychologist, focused on behavioral health. Dr. Waltman will be available to all ages and is well versed in treating a wide range of behaviors including depression, anxiety, life changes, personality disorders, and trauma. She focuses on individual therapy to better understand her patients and deliver customizable care, aligning seamlessly with the comprehensive care Mid-State Health looks to provide their patients with.
Dr. Waltman has a strong educational background; she received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from New England College in Henniker NH, then her Master of Science in Special Education from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain CT. Following her master’s, she enrolled in graduate school earning her Doctor of Philosophy, in School Psychology from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. Since then, she has been a continuous advocate for mental health, cultivating an individualized approach to behavioral health care.
“Culture is very important to my practice style; I work with many different populations, and I always want to make sure I understand my clients needs and adapt my care to best fit them” Dr. Waltman comments, “My goal when delivering care to clients is to build a relationship based on mutual respect and understanding, to create a safe, comfortable environment.”
Dr. Waltman has been an award-winning psychologist for over three decades. She received the Distinguished Service Award in 1981 from the Connecticut Society for Autistic Children and Adults, as well as the Presidential Award for National Association of School Psychologists in 1996 recognizing those who show excellence in the provision of school psychological services. Dr. Waltman has also been awarded twice by Plymouth State University, receiving the Campus Compact for NH President’s Good Steward Award in 2017, and in 2018, the Distinguished Graduate Teaching Award.
