Mid-State Health Expands Pediatric and Family Medicine Services with the Addition of Child Developmental Specialist

May 1, 2025 | Health Highlights, News

Mid-State Health Center is excited to announce that it has expanded their services, and Mid-State patients now have access to an impactful resource. Randy Tallent, MSEd, DPT, experienced Child Developmental Specialist, is now working with Mid-State Health’s providers on how to better support the healthy development of young children. Through funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), she is also able to make occasional visits to Mid-State practices to directly assist families in need. Her expertise adds to Mid-State’s ongoing commitment to providing families with the supportive resources they need to thrive.

Randy brings over 40 years of experience providing consultation to care givers of young children and healthcare providers in addition to advocating for children and their families. With a graduate degree in Early Intervention and Doctor of Physical Therapy, she has built her career on the understanding that early relationships and responsive care are the foundation for a child’s lifelong health and success.

Randy’s work centers on helping families better understand and support their child’s development during the most formative years of life. She provides guidance across all areas of early growth, including motor development, speech and language, behavior and social-emotional skills, sleep and age-appropriate nutrition and feeding. Her collaborative, relationship-based approach empowers caregivers with the tools and confidence they need to nurture healthy development and address concerns early.

“When we identify developmental concerns early, we have a greater chance to provide the support children need during the most critical stages of growth,” Mid-State’s pediatrician Dr. Nettie Colella, MD, explains. “When children receive timely guidance and intervention, it can positively shape their emotional, social, and academic development for years to come.”

This new resource further strengthens Mid-State’s commitment to supporting children and families across the region. In addition to Pediatric and Family Medicine care in both Plymouth, Bristol, and Lincoln, Mid-State offers a walk-in clinic for lactation and postpartum support that’s open to all members of the community. For those times when care can’t wait, its Same-Day Care Walk-In Clinic in Plymouth provides accessible and convenient support for unplanned health needs. With plans underway to renovate and incorporate a dedicated Family Health Suite, Mid-State Health Center continues to grow and adapt to meet the evolving needs of local families.
