Mid-State Health Center is proud to stand alongside communities nationwide in recognizing Men’s Health Month, celebrated annually throughout June. The primary goal is to promote the importance of preventative care, advocating for the early detection and treatment of diseases among men and boys. This month provides Mid-State with an opportunity to promote preventative care and encourage open discussion about important health topics.
Throughout the month of June, Mid-State encourages men and boys to take charge of their health by setting personal wellness goals and initiating conversations about preventive care. Establishing a primary care provider (PCP) is a crucial first step towards better health outcomes, as they can guide individuals through age, and risk, appropriate health screenings and interventions.
Research shows that men ages 15-65 are significantly less likely than women to seek preventive care services and often forego establishing a PCP, this leads to higher rates of undiagnosed and untreated health conditions. Men are less likely to undergo preventive screenings, seek timely medical care, or get vaccinated, contributing to shorter life spans compared to women.
“Men’s Health Month serves as a vital reminder of the significance of early detection and treatment of diseases among men and boys,” “which aligns with Mid-State’s commitment to providing proactive and comprehensive health care.” Robert MacLeod, CEO, comments.
Men’s Health Month is a pivotal opportunity for men to prioritize their health and well-being. By staying up to date with health screenings, actively listening to their bodies, and prioritizing mental health, men can take meaningful steps towards a healthier and happier life. As advocates for community health, Mid-State Health Center remains steadfast in our commitment to empowering men and boys to take charge of their health.
