H1N1 update

Mid-State Health Center has a limited supply of H1N1 vaccine and is now vaccinating its patients in ALL Priority Groups (one, two, three AND four). This means that everyone is eligible to receive the vaccination (assuming there are no reasons [contraindications] not to vaccinate). For those who are in the groups that we are able to vaccinate at this time, call the office to confirm vaccine availability and to schedule an appointment.

As vaccine supply and priority groups are changing at least weekly, please refer to this website for updates on the status of H1N1 vaccines at Mid-State Health Center.

National Healthcare Decisions Day

Mid-State Health Center, Pemi-Baker Home Health and Hospice, Speare Memorial Hospital and Goldenview Healthcare are coordinating efforts in promoting National Healthcare Decisions Day on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Kathie Stringham, of the Central NH Health Partnership, will join a few others from these organizations at Pease Public Library from 9am-1pm to inform and counsel individuals on completing Advance Directive forms.

It is very common to procrastinate thinking, never mind completing the Advance Directive documents. It is also commonly thought that this is something we should do when we get "older." However, these forms are extremely helpful for our family members and primarily ourselves so that our wishes are followed through.

Press Release

Plymouth, NH - The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Performance and Practices of Successful Medical Groups: 2010 Report Based on 2009 Data identified Mid-State Health Center as a "better performer" because of superior operational performance compared with similar medical group practices nationwide.

Mid-State was recognized as a "better performer" in the areas of productivity, capacity and staffing. Mid-State has worked over the past several years to improve patient wait time to within one working day in many cases and on the same day for acute illness. This is, in part, due to the improved recruitment and retention of clinicians and increased productivity of our medical professionals. Additionally, operations in the new facility at Boulder Point in Plymouth have provided efficiencies that were not possible prior to the move. Recognizing the value of patient input, Mid-State was positively cited for conducting patient satisfaction surveys on a regular basis.

Part of Mid-State's success is attributable to its recognition by National Committee on Quality Assurance as a Patient-Centered Medical Home. This model of care promotes patient involvement in care decisions and includes the patient in prioritizing the addressing of health issues.

Sharon Beaty, CEO shared, "It is truly an honor for our medical practice to be included in this prestigious group. Only the highest level practices participate in this national survey and to be named as a 'better performer' is a credit to our entire team."

The MGMA report, a benchmarking standard among medical groups for over a decade, was produced using data from respondents to the MGMA Cost Survey: 2010 Reports Based on 2009 Data as well as data from a questionnaire that assessed management behaviors, practices and procedures of better performers. The report profiles medical practices that have demonstrated success in one or more areas: profitability and cost management; productivity, capacity and staffing; accounts receivable and collections; patient satisfaction; and managed care operations.
